The workshop for educators “Poles saving Jews during World War II”, summary

On November 25th, 2019, a workshop for educators “Poles saving Jews during World War II” took place at the Museum of Poles Saving Jews. It was a second meeting like this at the Museum in Markowa.

The workshop was inaugurated by the director Anna Stróż-Pawłowska. Mr. Stanisław Fundakowski – Vice-curator of Education in Rzeszów and Mr. Mirosław Mac – the Head of the Markowa Commune also took the floor.

The workshops were conducted by the employees of the Departmental Office of National Education and the Departmental Office for Historical Research of the Institute of National Remembrance in Krakow – Mr. Michał Masłowski, head of OBEN, Dr. Marcin Chorązki, chief specialist at OBEN and Mr. Roman Gieroń, inspector at OBBH. Discussion included issues such as: II Republic of Poland – the national, cultural and religious mosaic, German occupation – Holocaust, as well as Poles towards Holocaust.

During the workshop participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge through lectures, and to develop competences and skills of working with sources such as: archival documents, files, reports, and relationships. They received “Educational Folder” which may become the new formula of classes with young people led by participants.
