The special guests visited the Museum of Poles Saving Jews

On November 23th, 2019 a special guests visited the Museum of Poles Saving Jews. Cipora Reem, a Holocaust survivor, came to Markowa. Together with the children and grandchildren, in the company of several dozen students, she met with the descendants of the family of Maria and Stanisław Dudek from Odrzykoń, who during the German occupation took care of her, saving her from the Holocaust. In the last decade, Cypi made contact with the Dudek family which led to Maria and Stanisław being awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations.

Anna Stróż-Pawłowska, director of Museum, began the meeting with honoring the Righteous from Podkarpackie. She welcomed guests and presented the activities of the Museum. Yair Reem, son of Cypi, presented the story of his mother. Chemi Reem, the second son, presented his own poem. An Israeli schoolgirl presented a musical piece. Anna Guzek read the letter on behalf of the honored Dudek family. The meeting was coordinated on behalf of the Museum by Kamil Kopera, who deals with aid histories on a daily basis. The second part of the meeting in Markowa has moved to Skansen Zagroda – the Museum of the Society of Friends of Markowa, where Mr. Eugeniusz Szylar was awaiting for the guests from Israel. He showed the guests around the house of his family, which hid there members of the Jewish Weltz family. He shared his experiences during the war and occupation.
