The liquidation operation started with an execution in the Borek district. On the following days, some residents of the ghetto were deported to the forced-labour camp in Pustków, and about 500 people were deported to other ghettos, and then to the extermination camp in Bełżec. Mielec was the first town in the General Governorate which was announced by Germans to be judenrein (German for: free of Jews).
