In 1942 several thousand Jews passed through the Lubaczów ghetto. Some Jews tried to hide in surrounding villages or even Lubaczów. At the end of 1942 Wolf and Helena Remer with their six years old son Józef had escaped from the ghetto and with help of Józef Młodziński they arrived to Antoni Dorota who lived with six children in the village of Młodów a few kilometres from Lubaczów. Fifteen years old daughter Aniela helped her father in hiding the Jewish family. She described those events in such a way:
We shelterd the Remer family in our house for purely humanitarian reasons and human kindness. It hapenned in great secrecy, with full awareness that our whole family was threatened by the death penalty for hiding Jews. We were hiding that family in the underground bunker.
After entering the Red Army in July 1944 Remers went to Cracow and later to Canada”.
On May 5, 1992 Antoni Dorota and Aniela Mirkowska were awarded the medal of the “Righteous Among the Nations”.
