The brothers Herman, Izrael and Jehuda Iwler lived in the Jurowce village near Sanok. During the German occupation they had to resettle into the Sanok ghetto and then in 1942 they were destined to work in the camp at Zasław near Zagórz. Before transportation to Zasław Jehuda Iwler escaped from the ghetto in Sanok and found shelter at one of peasants in the Jurowce village. A pre-war acquaintance who was managed a large farm in Jurowce delivered food to Jehuda Iwler through his employee Antonina Bąk. Soon afterwards Jehuda’s brothers Herman and Izrael escaped from the labour camp in Zasław and arrived to Jurowce. The brothers did not feel safe in the barn and in the summer of 1943 they moved to a nearby forest overgrowing the Wroczeń hill where they settled in a masked cave. During the next year until the summer of 1944 Antonina Bąk brought them food, mainly bread. After the war the Iwlers left Poland but they maintained contact with Antonina.
On Jan. 17, 1990 Antonina Bąk was decorated with the medal of the “Righteous Among the Nations”.
