We are pleased to inform you that The Ulma Family Museum of Poles Saving Jews in World War II has been awarded at the BohaterONy 2019 in the category “Institution”. Nomination by decision of the Organizing Committee of the 2019 Heroes Award Warsaw Insurgents, was received for popularizing the heroic attitudes of Poles towards the Jewish community during World War II and German occupation, as well as the opening of the The Orchard of Remembrance presenting one and a half thousand names of places where the Righteous helped.
Internet users participated in the voting until October 2. The laureates were selected by the Award Committee, consisting of members of the Honorary Committee of the BohaterON, historians, veterans, media representatives and ambassadors of the BohaterON – włącz historię!.
Dr. Anna Stróż-Pawłowska, Director of The Ulma Family Museum of Poles, received a bronze statuette at the Gala at the Grand Theater in Warsaw:
This confirms that our efforts make sense and at the same time this motivates us to continue our efforts. It is a proof that even a small institution, located away from leading cities, can significantly affect national and even international historical discourse.
